Outstanding Academics Performance just one of the hundred ways to make it

Careful on how you speak to people, the broke and unintelligent guy you hate now might end up being your hubby or your employer in the future. I know everyone believe in the top dogs of the department, you see them and believe they have all it takes to make it, trust me you are missing it all. The society is not always predicted with just common sense that’s why sociologists are needed to study how it works.

I really love Wole Soyinka even though I hardly read his works but his educational background inspire a lot unto me. He wasn’t the best in his days and couldn’t make a 2^nd class upper while some made a first class. But he has made something they can never make in a thousand life time. He was accepted with open hands at The Havard University during the Nigerian civil war even with his certificate, I then ask how many first class students can make that happen?

I then tried to reason it out but realized that most people with the best grades only perform best as employees while low graders sometimes end up as being self employed. How is this possible you might ask, if someone is able to make a 4.8 CGP, before you know it a lot of people will want him to work for them and most of the graduates seize that opportunity while the poor students will invest in other things to grow and then employ the brilliant ones after they boom. Another question is who will end up been richer?

A typical example is Bill Gates, he ones said

‘’I failed in all courses while my friend passed in all, now he is working as my technician’’ he employs the brilliant ones to work for him. Why should you then let your result determine your future? Acquiring good grades is just one of a hundred ways to make it in life and not the only way. One funny thing here is that there seems to a funny chain, the extremely brilliant ones end being managers, CEOs and other important posts, the other brilliant ones the take the lesser important jobs and the non or little educated taking up the unskilled part or the structure. Guess who will then be at the top of the work chain?

 The society gives different number of chances to people to make a change it now left to you to figure it out and work on them. Outstanding academic performance is great but it takes more than that to succeed in life. You might be scared due to your poor performance but the brilliant ones are also scared of what to do next. In conclusion, this might not be always true but it has manifested at different levels. Don’t look down on yourself. A dead society is only one whose members has lost hope. You don’t need people to believe in you but you just have to believe in yourself.

An Open Letter to Nigeria@s Present Generation

Adenikan Solomon wonder why the aged just criticize our generation, I know we have our shortcomings, but we are not that bad. Trust me, most of the displays are as a result of their actions. when a child is born his mind is as plain as a slate. Sociologists call it TABULA RASA, but as a result of socialization it develops. we don't socialize ourselves at the earliest stage they do. You don't blame the fruit for what it becomes instead you put it on the plant.

1. A lot of scholars also complain about the reading habit, but some youths read more than these scholars. Imagine one staying online for 5hours chatting, aren't you reading and giving replies? You also read ur replies, are u not into reading? some people 's chat is longer than an 100pages novel. We still have the reading habit only that we deviated from how it should be used.

2. Imagine cybercrime, if only the exchange rate was about $1 to 10NGN who will invest in it? We are blamed for being enchanted to these fast growing legal tender. they still don't get it, if an $100 can get me 50k in Nigeria, isn't it a great business, despite the job insecurity, high unemployment, underemployment and also poor educational standard which frustrates youths.

3. We then see these people insulting one another on social media then I wonder why we are also blamed when we do the same. Politicians, scholars and even our parents don't just care when they post foul languages on social medias. Their use of words is highly worse Dan anything u can think of, making it easier for people like us to do d same. Just imagine after a peaceful general election, just take a look at both parties member's Facebook page and see what will be posted. Things DAT can trigger anger and bring a ''WORLD WAR"". I Dont blame dem since dey are just ignorant of how things work.

4. I also wonder why they blame students for not being serious, imagine one being thought things the lecturers know we will never need. Even force you to learn things that the computer can just do for you for free. Imagine with that thought, how will computer literacy be encouraged when we ourselves are trying to work like one? Exams are not always that bad only that it sometimes funny DAT I first remember sometimes in Yoruba to then translate kills a lot, I just let go of the idea.  I know we have to be disciplined but developed nations don't go this length to survive.

5. The funniest part is when they discourage us not to seek visa lotteries and develop our own nation, but u start to wonder are these people all barren? Becos u Neva no their kids simply becos they stay abroad. Why can't they stay behind to develop our nation. Dey are also sure DAT these kids of theirs will surely make interesting scenes if allowed to stay behind. Imagine someone investing a lot in health sector, and will never patronise them to get treatment. Dey are so into foreign goods and services and will even want to get an imported fuel to fill their vechiles.

At least someone should tell dem to get sense, we might be quiet DAT doesn't make us stupid. The bible says Honour ur parents and not like dem. U just have to play along for a while. And let them realise the fact when the time comes.
Whether the leaders, scholars, parents believe it or not, our own tenure will be better. We don't need people who are tactless to tell us what to do. if they were so good at putting our generation through why cant they do the same to theirs? I get mad at write ups just insulting people like us, since no one is encouraging us to do good while wont there be a deviation.
when we people do great things only the media recognizes it but these people only see the other side. if you want us to change, we need to seen examples. Make it empirical and not theoretical. Am not perfect but the last thing I need now is someone who dosen't know how things work should criticize my actions.
